The issue was clearly MS Service Pack 3. Thanks a bunch. I was struggling lot to install the SQL Server That however did not work for me. Once I delete that I was able to install. Hope that helps someone else. This was a frustrating one!
As andy states alot of the links no longer exist or are valid. Is the solutions still valid? Any updated help would be great. It seems that microsoft has removed the uninstall utility.
If you check the page related to the uninstall utility: support. I have no idea how to fix this problem now. So what now? Does anyone have a copy of this file you can send me?
Just though I would share this, msicuu2. I did this but still having problems with the installation.. I was having this problem…I just downloaded the unistall tool from the brother site listed above. SQL installed now; after deleting sp2. It worked great.

I have been stuck with this sproblem for hours and I happened to come across your post. So downloaded the utility from the Brother website and the SQL Server installation worked like a charm…. Worked like a charm to correct the install error.

Hi, Had the same problem everyone here seesm to be having. Sanjay… do a Google search for msicuu2. Unfortunately for me the cleanup utility downloaded from softpedia did not work for me. It just hanged for too long checking the disk requirements so i canceled it.

Try deleting the key prior to the install. If you have full rights you should be able to delete it. Another thing: do you have AV running with realtime check?
Also have to delete 18 other keys manually from the registry. Don't know why I have to do that. Can you send me the list of 18 other keys. I am also having the same and need to rectify. Please help me. Then we installed VS successfully.
