The Department is equipped with up-to-date ultrasound machines and staffed by outstanding clinicians in OB-Gynecology who deliver top-quality expertise in evaluation, diagnosis and management of each patient.

The Department offers a four-year residency training in Orthopedic Surgery. Teaching sessions are in the form of regular didactic sessions, patient rounds, conferences, and special lectures and cadaver dissections. Residents in training are given hands-on experience in orthopedic surgeries, outpatient care and in-hospital patient management. The Philippine Board of Orthopedics recognizes the training program. Residents are given salaried posts and other benefits enjoyed by resident physicians in the Philippines Hospital during their training.

Residents are evaluated regularly by the consultant staff in terms of Training, Research, and Service for promotion to a higher level of training. Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics, also spelled orthopedics, is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.

This experience requires the resident to become proficient in evaluating and synthesizing large bodies of medical literature, complex medical decision making, and making clinical recommendations.

A thorough understanding and skill in literature evaluation and evidence-based practice principles is required for this experience. The resident will play a key role in pharmacy and therapeutics committee support with affiliated institutions and other organizations.

The resident will work independently and collaboratively with Doctor of Pharmacy rotation students to develop and present formulary monographs, therapeutic class reviews, and other medical policy activities.

Teaching is a core component of the residency. The resident will receive an academic appointment as Instructor of Pharmacy Practice. The resident will provide extensive advanced experiential training to Doctor of Pharmacy students during their required drug information rotation. A variety of research opportunities are available in the areas of clinical practice in drug information, scholarship of teaching and learning, meta-analysis and systematic reviews, and others.

The resident will complete a minimum of one research project suitable for publication during the residency period. Teaching Certificate. The resident will participate in the required teaching certificate program offered at Creighton University. This longitudinal program will help develop foundational skills in curriculum development and teaching.

Evidence-Based Practice Certificate. The program is intended to provide the foundational knowledge for evidence-based medical decision making including modules covering biostatistics, hypothesis testing, research design, developing a research protocol, and conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. A variety of other opportunities are available throughout the residency year.

Seminars on grant writing, leadership, research design, and others are available. Participation in these programs will be dependent on the interests of the resident and availability.
